What to expect from Prime Day Lego deals 2023
Even though the best offers tend to be reserved for Amazon technology, TVs, or Prime Day laptop deals, that isn't to say savings on Lego aren't available. In fact, you can get a huge amount of money off sets if you're quick; it's not uncommon to see lowest-ever prices during the sale.
Based on Primes of years past, we expect the most tempting offers to be on Star Wars kits in 2023. These always seem to get most of the reductions and are some of the most popular sets overall, so it stands to reason that they'll be spotlighted again this time around. Mid-range vehicles like the old X-Wing and TIE Fighter dipped to a single cent off record low prices in 2022, for instance, and the Rise of Skywalker Millennium Falcon had never been cheaper than it was during last year's sale. Because the latter rarely drops below $140, this reduction was a standout.
Will it drop that low again? Very possibly. This set normally hits all-time lows during sales like Prime Day mid-way through the year, and these offers can actually wind up being better than bigger events such as Black Friday. As such, we'd bet on it enjoying a big reduction in 2023.
Equally, sets like Mandalorian's N1 Starfighter are shoo-ins for a discount. This one in particular has dropped down to around $47.99 multiple times over the past year, so we'd be surprised if it didn't get a steeper drop in time for Prime Day. The same is true of the for-adults dioramas such as the Death Star Trench Run - they're just under a year or so old and have never gone much below $55.99 (a $4 cut), which means the time is ripe for a bigger saving.
Classic kits have been known to get solid deals
Similarly, Harry Potter, Technic, and Super Mario kits are sure bets too. They always go on offer during sales, as evidenced by the boy wizard's sets dipping by as much as $25 for 2022 and Technic vehicles being some of the most prolific in terms of discounts last year. In much the same way, the Super Mario starter course (or Luigi's, for that matter) is always guaranteed to drop in price. As a case in point, UK fans could get it for 50% less last year - it fell to £25, which was one pence away from its lowest ever price at that point in time. Hopefully the Peach starter set will join them in 2023, along with The Mighty Bowser. Both are relatively new and have never had massive price cuts, so Prime Day is an ideal chance to rectify that.
Surprisingly, Classic kits (such as the numerous Brick Boxes) have been known to get solid deals of $6 or more for Prime Day as well. Although they aren't quite as showy as sets based on mega-franchises, they're still incredibly useful if you like to go freestyle with your builds or want to add to your kids' Lego bits box.
What about brand-new sets like the Return of the Jedi dioramas, the UCS X-Wing, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 kits that have only just hit shelves, though? We wouldn't count on seeing them pop up during this year's Prime Day Lego deals, at least not with any significant drop in price. Sets this new rarely make it into the lineup, so don't expect them to be included - that'll be for Black Friday.
